How to Get an Account

DartFS is a secure storage system for Dartmouth researchers. Here’s how you can get access:

Who Can Use DartFS?

  • All Dartmouth researchers can request 50GB of personal storage (linked to your Dartmouth NetID).
  • Faculty can request 1TB of shared lab storage (e.g., Professor Charles Xavier would have a lab folder called XavierC).

What You’ll Need

  1. A valid Dartmouth NetID and password.
  2. To request your storage:
    • Use the Request An Account button on our website (look for the green button in the top right corner).
    • Faculty can also use the Request Storage option to set up or expand lab space.

When Will My Account Be Ready?

Your storage space will be set up within 3 business days after you submit your request. Once it’s ready, you’ll get a confirmation email.

Important for Off-Campus Users

If you’re connecting from off-campus, you must first use a VPN to access DartFS. Learn how to set up a VPN here.
